Hockey has been an important part of Monroe Woodbury High School in Central Valley, N.Y. for over 30 years., and we started the Monroe Woodbury Hockey Advocacy Committee with the goal of keeping the program going for the next 30 years and beyond.
In March of 2017, it was announced that the school district was going to cancel the program due to monetary reasons. After the news broke there was a ton of support from the surrounding community, and the amount of media coverage highlighted how important the program is.
The school board ultimately came to an agreement to include ice hockey in the 2017-18 school budget, and we need to do everything possible to make sure it is around for 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21 and so on.
We are looking to raise money for the Monroe Woodbury Hockey booster club to ensure that the sport will continue at the school for the foreseeable future. Hockey is more than just a sport, it is an activity that allows boys and girls to come together and learn important values such as trust, respect, teamwork and hard work. The program is a family, and once a Crusader always a Crusader.
